KUCHING, April 21: The 24th Asian Congress on Occupational Health (ACOH) will return to Malaysia after nearly three decades, with Sarawak set to host the prestigious event from August 5 to 8, 2026, at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

According to a TVS news report, the congress is expected to draw around 2,000 participants and will mark a major milestone in advancing workplace safety and health awareness across the region.

Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, said the congress plays a vital role in narrowing the knowledge gap and training more occupational safety and health (OSH) coordinators across all sectors.

“It’s not just for large industries — occupational health applies to every workplace,” he said during a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Dr Sim also emphasised the importance of embracing technological advancements such as artificial intelligence (AI), and tackling emerging challenges like mental health, which he noted has become a key concern in today’s workplaces.

He added that the congress will not only strengthen local OSH capabilities but also facilitate extensive knowledge exchange across cultures and borders.
