The Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) partnership with JAFF Market, presented alongside the Jogja NETPAC Asian Film Festival, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, continues in 2025 with AFF calling for feature film project submissions.

The call is open to feature-length film projects – fiction, animation or documentary – in development, pre-production, or a work-in-progress. Eligible formats include: Fiction, Animation, Documentary.  Preference will be given to projects that cultivate cultural connectivity between Australia and Indonesia, either by way of shared creative development and/ or production.

This initiative is part of AFF’s Festival Bridges program, which also includes a partnership with the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes.  AFF first established a ‘Festival Bridge’ with the Jogja NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF), Yogyakarta, Indonesia in 2023 and this has evolved with the establishment of JAFF MARKET, the first ever Southeast Asian film market, in 2024.

The initiative is funded by the Australian Government, Office for the Arts. AFF x JAFF Festival Bridge aims to cultivate enhanced connection between Australian and Indonesian filmmakers, to promote greater cultural understanding between the two countries and generate new opportunities for Australian filmmakers.

The two Australian projects selected will receive JAFF market registration, travel and accommodation, and the opportunity for curated one-on-one meetings with producers, funders, and key industry professionals. The Australian projects will be presented in the Futures Project platform, alongside of eight other projects from across SE Asia. All project teams will form collaborative connections.

Mat Kesting, Adelaide Film Festival CEO & Creative Director, said: “The AFF x JAFF Festival Bridge is an authentic opportunity to establish cultural connectivity with one of our nearest geographic neighbours. Last year saw two Australian projects embraced by the JAFF Market and the filmmakers, Ben Golotta and Katrina Irawati Graham, gained invaluable connectivity to both Indonesia and broader SE Asian film industries, including investors, creative and production partners.”

Linda Goazli, JAFF Market Director, said: “I’m incredibly excited to announce that JAFF Market is once again partnering with the Adelaide Film Festival! We’re officially opening the doors for Australian filmmakers to join the JAFF Future Project — a program built to spark bold collaborations between Australian and Indonesian creators. This is your chance to be part of something meaningful, future-driven, and internationally connected. Let’s tell powerful stories together — ones that resonate across cultures and borders. Don’t miss this opportunity. Let’s shape the future of cinema — together.”

The deadline for submissions is September 15.
