Khan’s Cave started as a pan-Asian restaurant in San Diego in 2008. A routine health inspection was conducted at the restaurant on Wednesday, when it was found that the premises were not vermin-proof and had an active infestation of insects and rodents. Food items were also not stored in safe and unadulterated containers. Some of the food cans had major dents on the rim and seam.

Some food items were held at unsafe temperatures, outside the recommended hot and cold holding guidelines. The food items were not properly stored at least 6 inches off the floor. Nonfood contact surfaces were found unclean during the inspection and had grease accumulation.

Inspectors found personal belongings in areas designated for food preparation and the condition of the floors and wall tiles needed immediate attention and repair.

The restaurant needs to address and eliminate all the violations before a re-inspection takes place. Reinspection will be required to confirm that all violations have been corrected.
